The Raíces artisan and organic market, held in Castrillón in the courtyard of the Santa María de la Merced Monastery, is preparing for its eighth season in 2026. This year, there will be six events, each taking place on the third Saturday of every month from May through October. The hours will be the usual ones, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Throughout this year, 12 vendor stalls will be set up every market weekend, mainly offering organic agricultural and food products, although there will also be artisans. In fact, in the agri-food sector, this market is the only one that deals exclusively in organic foods.
As a new development, COPAE has begun collaborating directly with local producers and the Castrillón City Council. This partnership will create an institutional booth for COPAE, to which a new organic producer will be invited each edition, with the goal of promoting this direct-sales venue within the organic sector in Asturias.
COPAE will also organize various activities to liven up the square from 12:00 to 13:00: seedling workshops, furniture restoration, crafts and recycling, fresh pasta-making, growing shiitake mushrooms on logs...
People who visit the market will have the chance to enter a raffle to win a selection of organic products. With every purchase at one of the booths, you'll receive an entry form to participate. The winner will be announced at the end of the day.
The market is held thanks to the support of the Castrillón City Council, which provides the venue and collaborates with the vendors in various ways to make each edition possible.
